Turbo Product codes (sometimes known as Block Turbo Codes) are a broad category of error correction code that operates on an array (an arrangement of data into "rows" and "columns") of data, where the rows of the array are each encoded with a simple code, such as a BCH code, and the columns of the row-encoded array are each then encoded using another simple code. In the receiver, the rows and columns of the array are decoded iteratively, with each decoding pass (half-iteration) providing reliability information to subsequent decoding half-iterations.
